In 1887 the first church in the town was opened which may have been the Presbyterian church. The original church burnt down in March 1914 and services were moved to the Mechanics Institute hall. A new church was built by Mr R Moore and was officially opened on 31 March 1915 by Reverend W Ryde of Bulla.
